English version

The circle of the hypocrites would not have been buckled if Ali Bongo had not gone as well, proclaim the great inspiration for him that Nelson Mandela was. Yes dear readers, listening to Ali Bongo pay tribute to Mandela, we could ask him some questions, between two tears

Ali Bongo, what have you learned from the life work of Mandela?

1. Your taste for tinsel, traveling and staying in luxury overpriced hotels, is certainly reminiscent of Mandela, is not it?
2. Hereditary power which is transmitted from father to son by locking the country, that's probably akin to Mandela right?
3. Luxury vehicles imported by cargo aircraft, at the poor taxpayer expense, again a habit inspired to you probably by Mandela, right?
4. Mandela must have certainly loved Brazilian rump, did he not?
5. The taste for trivia like the Richard Attias forum, were certainly inspired to you by the life of Mandela, right?
6. The purchase of luxury hotels in the West, no doubt about it, another Mandela inspiration, is not it?
7. The rigging of elections, with the stepmother at the Constitutional Court, isn’t that 100% Mandela?
8. The massive embezzlement of public money, that’s also of Mandela, right?

To listen to Ali Bongo touting the extraordinary qualities of Nelson Mandela, you cannot resist doubting his sincerity and even getting a little annoyed. Listening to him, it is doubtful that he retained anything about the courage and the political commitment of the giant South African. Can anyone believe that Ali Bongo really knows the road travelled by Madiba? Is he really interested in the history of South Africa? Does he really know the meaning of the words integrity and honesty? When Mandela came to power, he organized the national reconciliation to unite South Africans, but when Ali Bongo usurped power in Gabon, his first instinct was to dismiss from the entire state apparatus, those he perceived as not to have supported him. What a contrast!

One would have hoped, naively naturally knowing the emptiness of the man, that Mandela’s death would not be attempted to be used for political gain by a dictator, son of dictator, of Ali Bongo’s ilk. But always without ideas, values, principles, charisma, ideals and personal legitimacy, Ali Bongo hooks himself onto Mandela’s hearse, shedding hot tears and even claiming, albeit obliquely, to defend the ideals of Mandela. It is in such moments that we recognize the deep and pathetic political misery of the lousy people governing Gabon.

So goes the dictatorship
