In an interview with his press, Ali Bongo recently said the following:

"I have no problem with Mr. Jean Ping, even if he has a problem with me. I note simply that he has joined the cohort of a number of political leaders who have vis-à-vis my person and the party I represent, only hatred. It is only hatred that motivates them. There is no political agenda. We would have liked to see a political project in front of us, that could have told us how a number of problems could be solved. No, all they do is say; I have not even put the right foot down, they say it's bad before I put the left foot down. I have not yet put the left foot down, they say it's bad. So we are totally in this posture. The hatred Jean Ping has for me still surprised me. One thing that the Gabonese must know, a little historical reminder is that maybe Jean Ping his resentful toward me simply because I helped him get a job with President Omar Bongo Ondimba that many covet? Let me explain: President Bongo wanted a new Chief of Staff, and we started to look at possible candidates; and I'm honest when I say that we must do justice. The name of Jean Ping was suggested to me by Mr. Albert Yangari; and this is how I got the name Jean Ping on my clipbord, as the President had asked many people to look, not to me only. So I approached the President to show him that list of candidates, on top of which there was the name of Jean Ping, who at the time was our Ambassador to Unesco. The President of the Republic told me: it's interesting, meet with him, discusses with him a bit. So that's what I did. I called Mr. Ping in Paris, so we met in Paris at my house, and we discussed about many things over two hours. I knew why; he did not; and when I got back, I made my report to the President. The report was positive. Some months later, Jean Ping became Chief of Staff. So this is to say that I have never done anything to harm Jean Ping."

What is important for us in this story is not all that much whether or not the facts stated are accurate. We cannot do that; because only Ali Bongo, Albert Yangari and Jean Ping are able to do so; and besides, Jean Ping has already given his version of events in an interview given to the newspaper Echos du Nord, this week. What deeply is of interest to this blog, is that Ali Bongo, perhaps in a slip, without realizing it, just said in an interview with his press, that already in 1984, he was part of the heart of the Gabonese power and that he was able to make and break careers. Dear readers, this statement is serious because at the time in 1984, it seems that Ali Bongo was listed nowhere as holding any function whatsoever in the organization of the Presidency of the Republic. So the fundamental question to be asked remains as to in what capacity could Ali Bongo make and break careers. Did the mere fact of being son of the President give him this prerogative?

Dear readers, the official records confirm to us that from 1972, Jean Ping was an international official at UNESCO in Paris, before becoming the Permanent Delegate of Gabon until 1984, when he was appointed to the Presidential Cabinet of Omar Bongo, at the age of 42 years old. The same records tell us that Albert Yangari was General Director of RTG from 1974 to 1976, then Chief of Staff of Omar Bongo in the period overlapping the year 1984. However, the official biography presented by the President of the Gabonese Republic (second above), says that after finishing school, Ali Bongo joined the Presidential Cabinet, becoming Personal Representative and High Representative of the Head of State. But upon verification, Ali Bongo was appointed personal representative of his father in 1984, almost simultaneously with the appointment of Jean Ping at the Office of the President. The question that all Gabonese Republicans should be asking is to know in what capacity was Ali Bongo able to appoint Jean Ping if he had no official function at the Presidency? In the opinion of this blog, Ali Bongo has confirmed one of the open secrets of Gabon, meaning that regardless of official duties, the Bongo family does everything and anything.

Sigmund Freud said that the slip was not a mistake, but the involuntary expression of a repressed truth. Thus, in this story, meaning to tell the Gabonese people how Jean Ping should express toward him a boundless recognition, Ali Bongo actually revealed how the Bongo governance works, where any child may interfere in the management of public affairs and without any official portfolio, go tell the President: Dad, appoint this one or that one, this is my friend, he's my lover, etc. So apparently, Ali Bongo without formal assignment, tells us that it was enough for him to suggest someone for the deal to be sealed. Dans une interview à sa presse, Ali Bongo a récemment dit ce qui suit:

«Je n’ai pas de problème avec Monsieur Jean Ping, même si lui il a un problème avec moi. Je constate simplement qu’il s’est joint à la cohorte d’un certain nombre de leaders politiques qui n’ont vis-à-vis de ma personne et du parti que je représente, que la haine. C’est seulement la haine qui les motive. Il n’y a pas de projet politique. Nous aurions aimé voir, un projet politique en face, qu’on nous explique en tous cas comment on va régler un certain nombre de problèmes. Non, tout ce qu’on fait c’est dire que ; je n’ai même pas posé la jambe droite, on dit que c’est mauvais avant que je ne pose la jambe gauche. Je n’ai pas posé la jambe gauche qu’on dit que c’est mauvais. Donc on est totalement dans cette posture. La haine que Jean Ping a vis-à-vis de moi m’a quand même surpris. Une chose que les Gabonais doivent savoir, un petit rappel historique, c’est que Jean Ping me reprocherait-il simplement le fait que je l’ai aidé à avoir un emploi auprès du chef de l’Etat Omar Bongo Ondimba que beaucoup souhaite? Je m’explique: le Président Bongo voulait un nouveau Directeur de Cabinet, et nous avons commencé à regarder les candidats possibles ; et je suis honnête quand je dis qu’il faut rendre justice. Le nom de Jean Ping m’a été suggéré par Monsieur Albert Yangari; et c’est donc comme ça que j’avais donc le nom de Jean Ping sur mes tablettes, comme le Président a demandé à tant de personnes, pas à moi seulement. J’ai donc approché le Président pour lui dire voilà une liste de candidats, en tête desquels il y avait le nom de jean Ping, qui à l’époque, était notre ambassadeur à l’Unesco. Le Président de la République me dit tiens c’est intéressant, rencontre le, discute un peu avec lui. C’est donc ce que j’ai fait. J’ai appelé Monsieur Ping à Paris, nous nous sommes donc rencontrés à Paris chez moi, et nous avons discuté à bâton rompu pendant plus de deux heures. Moi je savais pourquoi, lui ne le savait pas ; et quand je suis rentré, j’ai fait mon rapport au Président. Rapport qui était positif. Quelques mois après, Jean Ping devenait Directeur de Cabinet. Donc, c’est pour vous dire que moi je n’ai jamais rien fait qui puisse nuire à Jean Ping. »

Ce qui pour nous est important dans ce récit n’est pas tant que ça de vérifier si les faits qui y sont relatés soient exactes. Nous ne pouvons le faire car seuls Ali Bongo, Albert Yangari et Jean Ping sont en mesure de le faire, et d’ailleurs Jean Ping a déjà donné sa version des faits dans une interview accordée à l’édition du journal Echos du Nord de cette semaine. Ce qui intéresse profondément ce blog par contre, est qu’Ali Bongo, peut-être par lapsus, sans s’en rendre compte, vient d’affirmer dans une interview à sa presse, que déjà en 1984, il faisait partie du cœur du pouvoir Gabonais et qu’il était capable de faire et défaire des carrières. Chers lecteurs, cette affirmation est grave car en 1984, pendant les faits, il nous semble qu’Ali Bongo n’était répertorié comme occupant quelle que fonction que ce soit dans l’organigramme de la Présidence de la République de l’époque. Donc la question fondamentale à poser reste celle de savoir en qualité de quoi Ali Bongo pouvait-il faire et défaire les carrières. Le simple fait d’être fils de Président lui donnait-il cette prérogative?

Chers lecteurs, les archives officielles nous confirment qu’à partir de 1972, Jean Ping est fonctionnaire international à l’Unesco à Paris, avant d’y devenir le Délégué Permanent du Gabon jusqu’en 1984, date à laquelle il sera nommé au Cabinet présidentiel d’Omar Bongo, à l’âge de 42 ans. Les mêmes archives nous disent qu’Albert Yangari est Directeur General de la RTG de 1974 à 1976, puis Directeur de Cabinet d’Omar Bongo dans la période chevauchant l’année 1984. Par contre, la biographie officielle présentée par la Présidence de République Gabonaise (deuxième ci-dessus), nous dit qu’après ses études, Ali Bongo entra au Cabinet Présidentiel en devenant Représentant Personnel puis Haut Représentant du Chef de l’Etat. Mais seulement, vérification faite, Ali Bongo est nommé Représentant Personnel de son père en 1984, presque simultanément avec la nomination de jean Ping au Cabinet du même Président. La question que devraient se poser tous les républicains Gabonais est celle de savoir en quelle qualité Ali Bongo aurait-il pu faire nommer Jean Ping s’il ne disposait lui-même d’aucune fonction officielle à la présidence ? De l’avis de ce blog, Ali Bongo vient là de nous confirmer l’un des secrets de polichinelle du Gabon, c’est à dire qu’en dépit d’attributions officielles, la famille Bongo se permet tout et n’importe quoi.

Sigmund Freud disait que le lapsus n’était pas une erreur, mais l’expression involontaire d’une vérité refoulée. C’est ainsi que dans ce récit, en voulant dire aux Gabonais combien Jean Ping devrait lui exprimer une reconnaissance sans borne, Ali Bongo nous révèle en fait comment fonctionne la gouvernance Bongo, où n’importe quel rejeton peut s’immiscer dans la gestion de la chose publique et sans portefeuille officiel, aller dire au Président : Papa, nomme celui-ci ou celui-là, c’est mon pote, c’est mon amant(e), etc. Ainsi apparemment, Ali Bongo sans attribution officielle, vient nous dire qu’il lui suffisait de suggérer quelqu’un pour que le tour soit joué. Au passage, nous vous rappelons qu’en 1984, si nous prenons les données de la biographie officielle, Ali Bongo n’a que 25 ans et Ping 42 et c’est lui qui va « réaliser » l’entrevue de Ping à Paris pour le poste de Directeur de cabinet. En 1984, Ali Bongo a quel diplôme universitaire ? Il a fait quelles études ? Il a quelle étoffe ? Il a quelle carrure ?
