English version

In its latest issue, the magazine La Lettre du Continent is of the opinion that the temperature is going up between Ali Bongo and Jean Ping, who is increasingly touted as his main challenger for the presidency in 2016. This publication says that 2016 campaign has already begun, with Jean Ping strongly in the offensive and Ali Bongo on the ropes, trying to answer as he can to criticisms against his regime.

Apparently, Ali Bongo has just taken delivery of the results of a survey on the image of his regime, carried out by his intelligence services (odd choice). This survey reveals that 80% of the interview sample had a strong distrust of the Director of Cabinet, Maixent Accrombessi. The latter is described by the Gabonese as the head of the Foreign Legion. According to La Lettre du Continent, the survey also reveals that Jean Ping is likely to worry Ali Bongo during the presidential election of 2016. This periodical then says that it is in response to the survey that Ali Bongo gave that interview to his press, on the occasion of the holiday of 17 August, in which he spent no less than forty minutes to dump on Jean Ping. To try to block Jean Ping, Ali Bongo is accusing him of xenophobia towards his Director of Cabinet and is hiding in this process behind the NGO Convergence that has initiated legal proceedings against Jean Ping on behalf of good citizenship and respect for republican principles. But what is funny is that the Honorary President of that NGO, headed by a Hervé Ndong Nguema, is none other than the offended: Maixent Accrombessi. Thus the loop closes and everything explains itself. But the Lettre du Continent also said that for several weeks, prosecution are falling on members of the opposition; such as Bishop Mike Jocktane or Jean Eyeghe Ndong.

Another wire of the LOC says that the member of the Union Nationale party Radegonde Djenno Mba, has joined the group of Sovereignists, a think-tank supporting the candidacy of Jean Ping for president in 2016. She is a Doctor of Pharmacy, former Deputy CEO of CNSS and leads a network of women executives responsible for deepening Jean Ping’s presidential project. She is also the daughter of Jules Mba, a historical figure of the Gabonese opposition.

For LDC, Richard Attias no longer leaves Ali Bongo’s sight. The communicator has become a shadow of the one who pays him, even having been seated by the protocol, very close to Ali Bongo during the recent military parade on 17 August. Meanwhile, in France, the LDC announces the breakup of the couple Bourgi-Sarkozy. Apparently Bourgi announced the end by SMS. But never mind, Sarkozy will come to recharge himself (literally and figuratively) in Libreville, with Ali Bongo, where he is announced to be in the coming months.

The LDC has discovered that an Ali Bongo Advisor, using the pseudonym Prosper Owono, is flooding the blog of the online newspaper Mediapart with articles in praise of his master.

In financial news, apparently Gabon owes the French Embassy, money, for land on the waterfront belonging to that embassy that the Gabonese government has bought. But the bills are still pending. The new Ambassador of France to Gabon, who should take care of this issue, is called Dominique Renaux. He is 61 years old, and was stationed in Sudan in 2000 and in Mauritius (2004-2007) then Togo (2007-2011), the country where he followed the last presidential election. In the early 90s, Dominique Renaux was working for Elf (now Total) as director of international relations.
