Following the coup d'état in August 2023, the following charges were leveled against Sylvia Bongo-Valentin and her son Noureddin Bongo-Valentin:

During their arrests, the military displayed large sums of cash found at their residences.

Curiously, after about 20 months in detention, Sylvia and Noureddin Bongo were granted provisional release under judicial supervision ordered by the Gabonese justice system, officially for health reasons.

They subsequently left Gabon for Angola, alongside Ali Bongo, on a plane chartered by the Angolan President, João Lourenço. The Gabonese people only learned of this exfiltration through the Angolan press.

Faced with public outcry, the Gabonese prosecutor meekly declared that the provisional release for medical reasons in no way interrupted the normal course of the judicial proceedings.

Some naive Gabonese even started to assert that Angola had officially guaranteed their return to Gabon for the trial. We laughed about it, but they took us for fools.

Today, comfortably settled in London, the Bongo-Valentins are having the last word: their lawyers are intimidating C’BON who no longer dares to even consider traveling to England, and the Bongo-Valentins themselves are thumbing their noses at the Gabonese justice system by refusing to appear at their trial.

What is left for us? Nothing, except a prosecutor who plays the clown and tells his life story. And C'Bon and the Bongo-Valentins will wage their legal war in the major world powers; far from our poor banana plantation.

Suite au coup d’Etat d’août 2023, les chefs d'accusation suivants ont été énoncés contre Sylvia Bongo-Valentin et son fils Noureddin Bongo-Valentin:

Lors de leurs arrestations les militaires avaient exposé d'importantes sommes d'argent liquide retrouvées à leurs domiciles.

Curieusement, après environ 20 mois de détention, Sylvia et Noureddin Bongo ont bénéficié d'une libération provisoire sous contrôle judiciaire ordonnée par la justice gabonaise, officiellement pour des raisons de santé.

Ils ont ensuite quitté le Gabon pour l'Angola, aux côtés d'Ali Bongo, dans un avion affrété par le président Angolais, João Lourenço. Cette exfiltration, les Gabonais ne l’apprirent que grâce à la presse Angolaise. 

Devant le tollé de l’opinion, Le procureur Gabonais vint mièvrement déclarer que la libération provisoire pour raisons médicales n'interrompait nullement le cours normal de la procédure judiciaire.

Certains naïfs Gabonais se mirent même à nous asséner que l'Angola se soit officiellement porté garant de leur retour au Gabon pour le procès. Nous en rigolions mais eux nous prenaient pour des imbeciles.

Aujourd’hui, confortablement installé à Londres, les Bongo-Valentin sont en train d’avoir le dernier mot : leurs avocats font peur à C’BON qui n’ose même plus envisager de se rendre en Angleterre et eux mêmes font un pied de nez à la justice Gabonaise en refusant de se présenter à leur procès.

Que nous reste-il ? Rien, sinon un procureur qui fait le clown et raconte sa vie. Et C’Bon et les Bongo-Valentin vont se livrer à leur guerre juridique dans les grands pays ; loin de notre pauvre plantation bananière.
