In an interview given to a press organ whose role is essentially to throw flowers at the Bongo family, Noureddin Bongo-Valentin said that: "The Gabonese people will judge me on the results and not on a basis of my surname".

 

But, since when did the Gabonese people entrust any mission to Noureddin Bongo-Valentin, mission at the end of which he should report to the people who would judge?

 

It seems that because his family has been in power in Gabon for 54 years, Noureddin Bongo-Valentin is now thinking that Gabon is somehow a monarchy, and thus, to rule the Gabonese people is his birthright. No sir, as far as the Gabonese people are concerned, the country remains a republic and as such, should be governed by the principles of equality and democracy for all.

 

Gabon has more than its fair share of problems, many of them caused by the Bongo family and its inability to run the country in an effective way. As the Gabonese people ponder what sort of future they want for their country, one thing for sure is that they want to do away with the corrosive and anachronistic Bongo rule. The Gabonese people don’t want another Bongo at the helm of the country.

 

The most offensive feature of Noureddin Bongo-Valentin’ statement, is that it makes it clear that he thinks that he can already ask the Gabonese people to consider him as their leader. This is the reasoning of someone who thinks that privilege should be cemented at the top of the social strata of society. By definition, Noureddin Bongo-Valentin believes that his pedigree gives him the right to rule the Gabonese population.

 

Dear readers, here we have the evidence of a family that believes strongly in the monarchy. They believe absolutely and firmly on a system that precludes equality among all citizens, even as a pretense. There is nothing remotely egalitarian about a system that guarantees that one family will receive all the privileges of the country, from the economic to the political one; and all this while asking the Gabonese people to show them deference. People like Noureddin Bongo-Valentin believe that they were born better than other Gabonese. This is a repugnant doctrine that this blog rejects unequivocally!

 

The state-sponsored extravagance of the Bongo family might be tolerable if members of that family could be trusted to set a serene example for “ordinary” Gabonese people to follow. But unfortunately, the Bongos have failed in everything they have done. It is in the wake of that abject failure that Noureddin thinks that he should be the next ruler of Gabon!

Dans une interview accordée à un organe de presse dont le rôle est essentiellement de jeter des fleurs à la famille Bongo, Noureddin Bongo-Valentin a affirmé que : « Les Gabonais me jugeront sur les résultats et non sur un délit de patronyme ».

 

Mais enfin, à quel moment les Gabonais ont-ils confie une quelconque mission à Noureddin Bongo-Valentin, mission à la fin de laquelle il devrait rendre compte au peuple qui en jugerait ?

 

Il semble que parce que sa famille est au pouvoir au Gabon depuis 54 ans, Noureddin Bongo-Valentin pense maintenant que le Gabon soit en quelque sorte une monarchie ; et donc, diriger le peuple gabonais soit son droit de naissance. Non monsieur, pour le peuple gabonais, le pays reste une république et en tant que telle, doit être régi par les principes d'égalité et de démocratie pour tous.

 

Le Gabon a de nombreux problèmes, dont beaucoup sont dus à la famille Bongo et à son incapacité à diriger le pays de manière efficace. Alors que le peuple gabonais réfléchit au genre d'avenir qu'il souhaite pour son pays, une chose sûre est qu'il veuille en finir avec le pouvoir corrosif et anachronique des Bongo. Le peuple gabonais ne veut pas d’un autre Bongo à la tête du pays.

 

La caractéristique la plus offensante de la déclaration de Noureddin Bongo-Valentin, est qu'elle montre clairement qu'il pense pouvoir déjà demander au peuple gabonais de le considérer comme son chef. C'est le raisonnement de quelqu'un qui pense que les privilèges doivent être consolidés dans les couches sociales au sommet de la société. Par définition, Noureddin Bongo-Valentin estime que son pedigree lui donne le droit de diriger la population Gabonaise.

 

Chers lecteurs, nous avons ici la preuve d'une famille qui croit fermement en la monarchie. Ils croient absolument et fortement en un système qui exclut l'égalité entre tous les citoyens, même partiellement. Il n'y a rien d'égalitaire dans un système qui garantit qu'une famille recevra tous les privilèges du pays, de l'économique au politique; et tout cela en demandant au peuple gabonais de lui faire preuve de déférence. Des gens comme Noureddin Bongo-Valentin pensent être mieux nés que les autres Gabonais. C'est une doctrine répugnante que ce blog rejette sans équivoque !

 

L'extravagance de la famille Bongo, alimentée aux frais de l'État, pourrait être tolérable si l'on pouvait faire confiance aux membres de cette famille pour montrer l'exemple serein et progressif aux Gabonais «ordinaires». Mais malheureusement, les Bongos ont échoué dans tout ce qu'ils ont fait. C'est à la suite de cet échec abject que Noureddin Bongo-Valentin pense qu'il devrait être le prochain dirigeant du Gabon!
