Ghana is Switzerland’s biggest trading partner
in sub-Saharan Africa. In the course of 2018/2019, Ghana produced 812 thousand
tons of cocoa. The Coffee Cocoa Council (CCC) and the Ghana Cocoa Board
(Cocobod), as well as the President of Ghana, in a statement, have said that two
of the world’s top chocolate manufacturers were not paying the living income
differential (LID).
Ghana has therefore decided to move towards
processing its own cocoa into chocolate. The world and Switzerland will undoubtedly
experience a massive shortage since Ghana is responsible for about 45% of the
world’s cocoa production.

partenaire commercial de la Suisse en Afrique Subsaharienne. Au cours de
l'année 2018/2019, le Ghana a produit 812 mille tonnes de cacao. Le Coffee
Cocoa Council (CCC) et le Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod), ainsi que le président

Suisse connaîtront sans aucun doute une pénurie massive puisque le Ghana est
responsable d’environ 45% de la production mondiale de cacao.
