Gabon: The person responsible for the knife attack says he acted alone

The Nigerien national who attacked two Danish journalists in a souvenir market on December 17, shouting "Allah Akbar", was jailed on Wednesday (December 27th) in the Libreville Central Prison where he will wait for his trial, which could be held within twelve months to two years. At this stage of the investigation, no formal link has been established with any accomplice. All the traders arrested have been released.

Before leaving the office of the examining magistrate, Arouna Adamou repeated that he did not regret his act that he committed alone, without accomplice and according to his own faith. He wanted to kill an American in retaliation for Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Having learned that his two victims were Danish journalists, Arouna Adamou said that Westerners were accomplices of Donald Trump.

Before being taken to his cell at "Sans Famille", the Nigerien still apologized to Gabon and the Gabonese people for committing his crime on Gabonese territory. He is prosecuted for attempted murder and faces life imprisonment.

As for the 30 traders and seven imams arrested, they were all released last Friday. The investigation revealed no evidence of complicity between them and the attacker.
