In a country where everything is done to prevent people from having a collective memory and a sense of free citizenship, it was refreshing to read the speech Paulette Oyane-Ondo gave on 14 January 2012. This blog found that speech to contain a very important and seminal message to the Gabonese people. A message that needs to be deconstructed, digested and understood by the Gabonese people so they could better understand the role they have to play if they are ever going to be free as they say they want to be.

In her message to the Gabonese people, Paulette Oyane-Ondo clearly enunciated that most people wanted to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery as is the case today under the Bongo regimes. She indicated that the Gabonese people did not need nor want to hate and despise one another, as is currently the case under the Bongo regimes. She reminded all that there is room for everyone and that Gabon is rich enough to provide a decent living in dignity for everyone. She reminded people that Gabon could be free and pleasant, but that for the moment the Gabonese people have lost their way. Greed has poisoned the people's souls; the practice of geopolitics has barricaded the various ethnic groups into pockets of resentment and latent hate, which could only lead to more misery and eventually bloodshed. She has acknowledged that the intense dictatorship that has been in place for decades has made the Gabonese people cynical, hard and unkind to one another. She told the people that it needed to reclaim its humanity and its citizenship. She asked those who could hear her to not despair, because the misery that is now upon Gabon is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear to lose power. But those who know how to read between the lines would have understood that she reassured the Gabonese people about the fact that the hate of men will pass and that dictators die or are deposed and that the power they confiscate from the people will return to the people but these people must want that power back. The message of Paulette Oyane-Ondo is very clear: so long as the population will be willing to stand up and demand its freedom, liberty will never perish in the face of dictatorship and tyranny.

One key aspect of Paulette Oyane-Ondo's message was her request that the Gabonese people do not give up their citizenship and freedom to brutes who despise them, enslave them; who regiment their lives, try to tell them what to do, what to think (with their government medias) and what to feel! To not give up to people who treat them like cattle. She reminded the Gabonese people that they were not machines, were not cattle, that they were human being. Men and women who are full of humanity in their hearts and who should fight slavery and fight for liberty! She told the Gabonese people that they, and no one else, have the power to create a new Gabon, to free themselves! They, the people, have the power to make this life free and plentiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure in the name of democracy. She asked the people to stand up and use that power, to unite and to fight for a new Gabon, a decent Gabon that will give to all, the chance to work; that will give youth a future and to the elderly security and dignity. She asked the people to fight to fulfill the promise of freedom, to do away with ethnic barriers, to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance and to fight for a Gabon of reason.

It is by reading the thoughts of people like Paulette Oyane-Ondo that one has to feel good about the fact that Gabon still produces people who think seriously and critically. Not just people who are taking orders from their boss to write books in which they argue that free and fair elections should not necessarily be the means by which legitimacy is achieved in Africa. That kind of Gabonese who are often very servile to the point of becoming a tool of the Bongo regime in its effort to try to crush the ones who want to take back their country which has been stolen thru exploitation, plundering and tyranny. The essence of her message is to ask the people of Gabon to stand up and stop being afraid of those who would like to maintain and perpetuate the current order with those on top securely in place as opposed to the rest who must remain permanently oppressed. Paulette Oyane-Ondo is reminding the Gabonese people to not be afraid of the laws of Gabon, because under this regime, the law is merely and instrument by which the majority of the population is disenfranchised and crushed beneath the strike of the gavel. There is no rule of law in Gabon because there is no objective set of laws which apply equally to all. Everything is done to the benefit of some and the detriment of others. Paulette Oyane-Ondo has clearly told the Gabonese people that they have nothing good to expect from the current regime, because this regime has never been of the people from the beginning, no matter what they say. They are there to serve a purpose and protect some important business interest.

Dans un pays où tout est fait pour empêcher les gens d'avoir une mémoire collective et un sentiment de citoyenneté libre, il est rafraîchissant de lire le discours que Paulette Oyane-Ondo a prononcé le 14 Janvier 2012. Ce blog trouve que ce discours contient un message très important et fondateur pour le peuple gabonais. Un message qui doit être déconstruit, digéré et compris par le peuple gabonais afin qu'il puisse mieux saisir le rôle qu'il a à jouer s'il doit à jamais être libre comme il dit vouloir l'être.

Dans son message au peuple gabonais, Paulette Oyane-Ondo a clairement énoncé que la plupart des gens voulaient vivre en harmonie les uns par rapport aux autres, non pas aux côtés de l'autre dans la misère, comme c'est le cas aujourd'hui sous les régimes Bongo. Elle a indiqué que le peuple gabonais n'a pas besoin de se haïr ni se mépriser les uns les autres, comme c'est actuellement le cas sous les régimes Bongo. Elle a rappelé à tous qu'il y a en principe de la place pour tout le monde et que le Gabon était assez riche pour offrir une vie décente dans la dignité à sa population. Elle a rappelé aux gens que le Gabon pourrait être libre et agréable, mais que pour le moment le peuple gabonais semble avoir perdu son compas, sa boussole, son sens de direction. La cupidité a empoisonné les âmes, la pratique de la géopolitique a barricadé les divers groupes ethniques dans des poches de haine et de rancœur latentes, qui ne pourraient que conduire vers plus de misère et finalement vers une effusion de sang, si rien n'est fait. Elle a reconnu que la dictature intense qui a été mise en place depuis des décennies a rendu le peuple gabonais cynique, et parfois dur et méchant envers l'autre. Elle a dit aux gens qu'il leur fallait récupérer et retrouver leur humanité et leur citoyenneté. Elle a demandé à ceux qui pouvaient l'entendre de ne pas désespérer, parce que la misère en cours au Gabon sera passagère car étant le fait de la cupidité et des appréhensions de ceux qui craignent de perdre le pouvoir. Mais ceux qui savent lire entre les lignes auraient compris qu'elle a rassuré le peuple gabonais sur le fait que la haine des hommes passera et que les dictateurs meurent ou sont destitués et que le pouvoir qu'ils confisquent au peuple retournera au peuple, tant que ce peuple veuille bien se battre pour qu'il lui revienne. Le message de Paulette Oyane-Ondo est très clair: tant que la population sera prête à défendre sa liberté et de la demander, la liberté ne périra jamais devant la dictature et la tyrannie.

Un aspect clé du message de Paulette Oyane-Ondo est sa demande au peuple gabonais ne pas abandonner sa citoyenneté et sa liberté à la domination de brutes qui les méprisent, les asservissent; régimentent leur vie, leur disent quoi faire, quoi penser (à l'aide de leurs médias publics) et comment se sentir! De ne pas se résigner devant des gens qui les traitent comme du bétail. Elle a rappelé aux gabonais qu'ils ne sont pas des objets, qu'ils ne sont pas du bétail, qu'ils étaient des êtres humains. Des hommes et des femmes qui sont pleins d'humanité dans leur cœur et qui devraient lutter contre l'esclavage et pour la liberté! Elle a dit au peuple gabonais que lui seul et personne d'autre, avait le pouvoir de créer un Gabon nouveau, avait le pouvoir de se libérer! Eux, les gabonais, ont le pouvoir de rendre leur existence libre et riche, peuvent faire de cette vie une merveilleuse aventure au nom de la démocratie. Elle a demandé aux gens de se lever et d'utiliser ce pouvoir, de s'unir et de se battre pour un Gabon nouveau, un Gabon décent qui donnerait à tous, la chance de travailler, qui offrirait aux jeunes un avenir et la sécurité et la dignité aux personnes âgées. Elle a demandé aux gens à se battre pour tenir la promesse de liberté, de faire disparaître les barrières ethniques, d'en finir avec l'avidité, la haine et l'intolérance et de lutter pour un Gabon de la raison.

C'est en lisant les pensées de gens comme Paulette Oyane-Ondo que l'on a de quoi bien se sentir car constatant que le Gabon produit encore des gens qui pensent sérieusement et de façon critique. Pas seulement des gens qui exécutent des ordres de leur patron leur demandant d'écrire des livres dans lesquels ils affirment que des élections libres et justes ne doivent pas nécessairement être le moyen par lequel la légitimité est réalisé en Afrique. Ce genre de gabonais qui sont souvent très servile au point de devenir un outil du régime Bongo dans ses efforts pour tenter d'écraser ceux qui veulent reprendre leur pays, qui leur a été volé par l'exploitation, le pillage, la tyrannie et l'arbitraire. L'essence de son message est de demander au peuple gabonais de se lever et arrêter d'avoir peur de ceux qui voudraient maintenir et perpétuer l'ordre actuel; avec ceux qui sont au dessus bien en place, contrairement au reste qui doit rester en permanence opprimé. Paulette Oyane-Ondo rappelle au peuple gabonais de ne pas avoir peur de la loi gabonaise, parce que sous ce régime, la loi est simplement un instrument par lequel la majorité de la population est exclue et écrasée à coup de maillet. Il n'existe aucun état de droit au Gabon car il n'y a pas d'objectif fixé pour que les lois s'appliquent également à tous. Tout est fait pour le bénéfice de certains et au détriment des autres. Paulette Oyane-Ondo a formellement dit au peuple gabonais qu'il n'avait rien de bon à attendre de l'actuel régime, parce que ce régime n'a jamais été issu de la population depuis le début, peu importe ce qu'en disent ses chantres. Il est là pour jouer un rôle qui est de protéger certains intérêts commerciaux importants.
