ALI BONGO ON RFI, OUR REPLY (PART 3). ALI BONGO SUR RFI, NOTRE RÉPONSE (PART 3)

English Version

RFI question: "If you are not uneasy, why not let those who want to protest take to the streets and say so? »

Ali Bongo answers: "How do you let people protest when they do not recognize the constitution and the law and are making calls to violence and hatred?”

Commentary by Annoying Gabon: Someone will have to explain once and for all to Ali Bongo that there is a clear distinction between his regime and the constitution. This means that to oppose Ali Bongo is by no means to oppose the constitution. Barack Obama is regularly attacked by a vigorous opposition of the Republican Party, yet he has never prevented them from demonstrating on the grounds that their opposition is unconstitutional. Same in France, where Hollande has never been seen requesting that a demonstration against him be prohibited because it is unconstitutional. The Gabonese opposition has demonstrated the violation by Ali Bongo of Article 10 of the constitution of the country; so it is Ali Bongo who is trampling the constitution and not the opposition. Speaking of hate speech, Ali Akbar Onanga y'Obegue, the Secretary General of Ali Bongo’s government, held has pronounced in his home province of Haut Ogooué, sectarian and violent remarks towards those who would not support Ali Bongo. Up to today, we have neither seen nor heard, nor read that Ali Bongo has found these words of the Secretary General of his government to be out of line and unwelcome in a country that wants to be pluralistic and inclusive. Sometimes ago, Michel Ogandaga, Ali Bongo’s Communication advisor, used violent and abusive language towards citizens of the Woleu-Ntem province; Again, we are still awaiting a disapproval remarks by Ali Bongo about that. No, dear readers, Ali Bongo does not want to discuss the facts against him, because he knows he would be overwhelmed by these facts; but prefers to substitute himself to the constitution by insinuating stupidly that to demonstrate against his regime is to violate the constitution, which is one more nonsense to his credit. The Republic is a collaborative and shared project by all the Gabonese people. The Constitution is the foundation of the Republic. When demonstrating against the Ali Bongo’s sham that violates the constitution, in fact one strengthens the constitutional order because one strengthens the rule of law.

RFI Question: "But if they do not represent anything as you say, they are not a real threat?"

Ali Bongo answers: "They are a threat to the safety of persons and property. Because every time they go in the street, with this message of hatred, there is vandalism, there is violence and besides that did tragically end up with the death of one of our compatriots who contrary to what was said, was not killed by the security forces. »

RFI follow up question: "By whom was he killed? »

Ali Bongo answers: "The investigation is ongoing."

Comment by Annoying Gabon: Could Ali Bongo tell us what is the message of hate endangering people and property in Gabon, which is conveyed by the opposition? The only message is that Ali Bongo is illegitimate and incompetent, and therefore he has to leave power. Is this the message that is of hate? The truth is that in Gabon, the regime does not want to either change or cede power. Therefore, Ali Bongo must maintain the ruthless and arbitrary repression against political opponents: civil and political rights are not respected, political prisoners and of opinion continue to be held without charge or trial, the use of torture against inmates remains the norm. The security forces and paramilitary militias continue to commit human rights violations against the Gabonese population with impunity. Who else threatens the safety of people and property in Gabon except for Ali Bongo? He wants to use the security argument to better silence dissent and justify systematic ban in Gabon of opposition demonstrations. When Ali Bongo says that opposition protests are a constant threat to the security of goods and people, it is a very slight justification to prevent citizens from enjoying a fundamental right that is the right to protest. In addition, the pretext of permanent risk of opposition demonstrations to disturbing public order has no legal basis. People should be condemned for acts that have occurred, not for those that may occur. The reality is that Ali Bongo fears that allowing the opposition to protest in the street would show and demonstrate the unpopularity of his regime. A demonstration of the opposition that would drain crowds would seem like a monumental rejection and a bad omen for Ali Bongo. On the death of Bruno Mboulou Beka, Ali Bongo is wasting his time trying to tell fables about who is responsible for this death. The Gabonese people are unanimous on those responsible for that death, who are the hooded militiamen of Ali Bongo who fired live ammunition into the crowd.

There is too much evidence that tell us that this compatriot was murdered by these militias, for the Ali Bongo’s lies to try to change anything about it. To listen to the nonsense he tells, one wonders why Ali Bongo went to march in Paris!
