In light of the current situation in Gabon, it's clear that the Gabonese people face many obstacles to making a quality electoral choice.

 

First, there is a clear lack of genuine political pluralism in the country. The system is designed for a single party or individual to hold power, which limits or prohibits the existence of effective opposition parties. The candidates who run are often selected and approved by the regime in power, thereby excluding any credible alternative.

 

Next, there is a lack of transparency and manipulation of information, as the regime controls the media and communication, spreading propaganda that promotes the party in power and denigrates any opposition. Access to impartial information is nearly impossible, making it difficult for citizens to objectively judge the candidates' performances.

 

Fear is also a tool of control. People in precarious jobs can be intimidated with threats of dismissal, imprisonment, or economic sanctions if they support the opposition. Voting is then no longer a free choice, but an action motivated by fear and the instinct for self-preservation.

 

Finally, we see an absence of checks and balances. Without an independent judiciary, free media, and a strong civil society, there are no safeguards to ensure the validity and legitimacy of the electoral process. The authorities do not have to be accountable, which allows them to manipulate elections without fear of consequences.

 

Dear readers, when we observe certain electoral campaigns, all we can do is smile, because crying would be too painful.

Au regard de la situation actuelle au Gabon, il est évident que le peuple gabonais fait face à de nombreux obstacles pour exercer un choix électoral de qualité.

 

Tout d'abord, on observe une absence manifeste de véritable pluralisme politique dans le pays. Le système est conçu de manière à ce qu'un seul parti ou un seul individu détienne le pouvoir, ce qui limite ou interdit l'existence de partis d'opposition efficaces. Les candidats qui se présentent sont souvent sélectionnés et approuvés par le régime en place, excluant ainsi toute alternative crédible.

 

Ensuite, il y a un manque de transparence et une manipulation de l'information, car le régime contrôle les médias et la communication, diffusant une propagande qui valorise le parti au pouvoir et dénigre toute opposition. L'accès à une information impartiale est quasi impossible, rendant le citoyen incapable de juger objectivement les performances des candidats.

 

La peur est également un outil de contrôle. Les gens ayant des emplois précaires peuvent être intimidées par des menaces de licenciement, d'emprisonnement ou de sanctions économiques si elles soutiennent l'opposition. Le vote n'est alors plus un choix libre, mais une action motivée par la peur et l'instinct de survie.

 

Enfin, on constate une absence de contre-pouvoirs. Sans une justice indépendante, des médias libres et une société civile forte, il n'y a pas de garde-fous pour garantir la validité et la légitimité du processus électoral. Le pouvoir n'a pas à rendre de comptes, ce qui lui permet de manipuler les élections sans craindre de conséquences.

 

Chers lecteurs, quand on observe certaines campagnes électorales, on ne peut que sourire, car pleurer serait trop douloureux.
