Jeune Afrique magazine has published a list of the top 500 African companies. The most curious to Gabonese people whom have been promised that they will live in an emerging country in 10 years, is that not Gabon does poorly as a whole, but the companies assigned to Gabon are not at all Gabonese but rather multinationals like Total operating in Gabon under the name of Total Gabon and in this ranking are being called Gabonese companies.

As you can see below (in French), no Gabonese company or even one implanted in Gabon appeared in the top 50. The first so called Gabonese company only appearing at the 96th place and it is Total Gabon, a French company. It is followed by Shell Gabon in 116th place, a Dutch company. The first company we could consider as Gabonese is Sogara which is 155th but it is actually a partnership between the state and Shell and Total Gabon. Then Comilog, another French company takes the 184th spot. Brace yourself; the 261th is Maurel & Prom Gabon which is anything but. At 334th is Ceca Gadis-another French company. SEEG which 376th is a French majority company. At the 430th spot is Airtel which is not Gabonese. At 438th the Company of Como with its French owned car dealerships. Then Total Marketing is 440th and is another subsidiary of Total. That's all, these are “Gabonese” companies ranked in the top 500 in Africa. Nothing to really brag about, but the New York Forum Africa will solve everything in 2 months ...

Le magazine Jeune Afrique vient de publier une liste des 500 premières entreprises Africaines. Le plus curieux pour le gabonais à qui on promet qu’il vivra dans un pays émergeant dans 10 ans, est que non seulement le Gabon est très mal classe dans l’ensemble, mais que les entreprises attribuées au Gabon ne le sont pas du tout, mais plutôt des multinationales comme Total qui opérant au Gabon sous le nom de Total Gabon, devient dans ce classement une entreprise Gabonaise.

Comme vous pouvez le constater ci-dessous, aucune entreprise gabonaise ou même implantée au Gabon n’apparait dans le top 50. La première entreprise dite gabonaise n’apparaissant qu’à la 96ième place et c’est Total Gabon, une société française. Elle est suivie de Shell Gabon à la 116ième place, une société néerlandaise. La première société qu’on pourrait considérer comme gabonaise est la Sogara qui arrive à la 155ième place, mais cette dernière n’est qu’un partenariat entre l’état gabonais et les sociétés pétrolières que sont Shell et Total. Ensuite la Comilog, une autre société en fait française, à la 184ième place. Tenez-vous bien, à la 261unième place on a Maurel et Prom qui est tout sauf gabonaise. A la 334ième place on a la Ceca-Gadis, une autre française. La SEEG à la 376ieme place qui est française a majorité. A la 430ième place on a Airtel qui non plus n’est pas gabonaise. A la 438ième place on a la Compagnie du Como avec ses concessionnaires français. A la 440ième on a Total Marketing Gabon une autre filiale de Total, rien de gabonais. C’est tout, voilà les entreprises « gabonaises » classées dans le top 500 en Afrique. Pas de quoi vraiment pavoiser, mais le Forum New-york Africa viendra nous résoudre tout ça dans 2 mois…
