English version

The Ali Bongo regime finds itself in the midst of yet another scandal. This time it is confirmed that members of Ali Bongo’s cabinet have used a falsified document as an invitation to the French Socialist party’s summer sessions.

As you can see in image 1, on 22 August 2012, the internet information site Gabonews, who is controlled by the Ali Bongo’s regime, posted a bulletin informing its readers that Gabon had been invited by the French Socialist party to participate at its annual summer session at La Rochelle in France. However, as shown in image 2, an article published by the NGO Survie on 28 August 2012, informed all that the document of invitation used by members of Ali Bongo’s cabinet, presented serious inconsistencies and outright lies. The French Socialist party was then contacted by Marc Ona Essangui and on Thursday 30 August 2012, none other than Jean-Christophe Cambadelis, a member of the National Assembly of France and the at National Secretary for Europe and International Relations at the French Socialist party, replied with a formal rebuke of the story being peddled by the Ali Bongo’s regime. The official reply of the French Socialist party said that they never invited Gabon or members of the PDG and that the document presented by the Ali Bongo cabinet members was a forgery and not in keeping with the official correspondence of their party.

This, dear readers, is a big deal. The French Socialist party is clearly saying that not only was the document presented by the Ali Bongo cabinet a forgery, but the entire story of an official invitation presented by the PDG and their media outlet was also false. Below is the contrast between what the PDG and the Ali Bongo regime said via Gabonews, and the response of the French Socialist party.

• The 22 August 2012, Gabonews published the following:

“Summer Session: The PS invites Gabon to La Rochelle. An important Gabonese delegation led by the Honorable Ernest Mpouo Epiga (MP PDG, in power) is expected this Wednesday in Paris to officially take part in the traditional Summer Sessions of the Socialist Party (PS), from 24 to 26 of August 2012 at La Rochelle, Poitou-Charentes (France). The delegation was officially invited by the leaders of the Socialist Party (the ruling party in France since May 2012).”

This is what the French Socialist party said on Thursday, 30 August 2012:

“The Socialist Party strongly denies that these individuals have received an official invitation. The so-called letter of invitation from the Socialist Party by which they justify their presence is clearly invalid in form and in substance. The use that is made by these individuals is therefore an abuse.”

This response by the French Socialist party is clear and unambiguous. Having been caught in a fraud, the regime is being coy about this scandal. No one dares to talk about it in the regime’s media. Gabonews which published the initial lies has not said anything. Even the officials of the PDG party are nowhere to be heard. The Gabonese ministry of justice has not said anything either, which is strange since the content of that letter clearly indicates that a forgery had been perpetrated. The regime is simply ashamed to see that what they thought they were doing in the dark had come to light.

Dear readers, by this umpteenth scandal, you can judge for yourself the degree of wickedness of the Ali Bongo regime; in that members of his inner circle, of his cabinet, would brazenly use forged documents to gain access to the French Socialist party summer sessions, so they could project the image that the new French government is friendly to Ali Bongo and to his policies. This is the height of cynicism and the kind of attitude that contributes to the extremely low level of public trust toward this regime. The use of false claims is bad enough, obviously. But to do it in an official capacity as member of a presidential cabinet is even worse. Not to mention the fact that false claims are punishable by law; this is a serious crime.

At this point, some people may say that Ali Bongo may not have been aware of this activity. This blog answers that this hypothesis is utter non sense, since some of the people involved report directly to him and he should have known that they were traveling to France and the reason of these travels. This scandal has to be attached firmly to Ali Bongo, for these reasons. It is after all his cabinet and close collaborators who have been found to have perpetrated this fraud. He cannot hide and would have to own it. The Gabonese people have come to believe the worst about Ali Bongo, due to all these scandals. Even if his state controlled media won’t talk about it, the alternative media would bring this issue to life and make sure that the Gabonese publics know exactly what is going on. In Ali Bongo, the Gabonese public is witnessing a president disintegrating before their very eyes.

So goes Bongos’ Gabon
