Sotheby’s has just announced that it would auction on 29 June 2020, in New-York City, one of one of the most important works of African Art ever to be auctioned by them, a Fang reliquary, from the collection of Sidney and Bernice Clyman.

That reliquary is estimated between $2.5 and 4 million us dollars (between 1,5 and 2,3 billion CFA francs).

Knowing the debate about how westerners stole these important pieces of arts from Africa, why are Africa governments, or even the African Union, not intervening to stop this insane commerce of stolen goods? When will Africans grow up and ask to be respected?

Sotheby’s vient d’annoncer qu’elle mettrait aux enchères le 29 juin 2020, à New-York, l’une des plus importantes œuvres d’art africain jamais vendues par eux, un reliquaire Fang, de la collection de Sidney et Bernice Clyman.

Ce reliquaire est estimé entre 2,5 et 4 millions de dollars américains (entre 1,5 et 2,3 milliards de francs CFA).

Compte tenu du débat sur la façon dont les occidentaux ont volé ces importantes pièces d'art d'Afrique, pourquoi les gouvernements africains, ou même l'Union Africaine, n'interviennent-ils pas pour arrêter ce commerce insensé de biens volés ? Quand vont les Africains grandir et demander à être respectés?
