English version

This blog has always thought that in a country like Gabon, where there is a race to the bottom, where impostors are elevated and built into a standard, where dependency and compulsory deference have reduced the "whole" person into an endangered species, it is important that as much as possible when we have the opportunity to recognize Gabonese citizens who are distinguished by creativity, innovation, in short by talent; we never miss the occasion to do so. This blog believes that knowledge, creativity and innovation are logical signs of development, and a culture that produces talents is naturally better equipped than one that is languishing in the elevation of mediocrity.

We present in this post a rather peculiar type of Gabonese citizen, Jann Halexander. Perhaps you already know of him. This distinguished artist in music, he is a pianist; writing, and film, among others; sets the bar very high with respect to the altitude of the themes emanating from his creative energy and also the complexity of communication of an art revealing an integrated man, deeply attached to the group but yet, essentially isolated. But who is Jann Halexander?

His press agent tells us that Jann Halexander was born on September 13, 1982 in Libreville, Gabon, under the name d'Aurélien Makosso-Akendengue, son of a Gabonese father and a French mother. He spent the first 16 years of his life in Gabon, interspersed naturally with stays in France. Son of a diplomat (father), and professor of music and philosophy (the mother), he revolved around cerebral activities and clearly acquired an early taste since he started writing and composing music on piano.

Based in France, he began his musical career at Angers in 2003, with a style that many critics call with praise, minimalist. Spaces between the notes, words that encourage the listener to think. In an interview, talking about his musical philosophy, Jann Halexander said that:

"I believe that art is not a field of competition, I do not have to run behind media exposure. When the desire to sing becomes necessary, we manage. I live only for creation and no disappointment would distract me from that."

Here is a clear statement that gives the measure of the man. In this year 2013, Jann Halexander celebrates his 10 years of musical career. To this end, there will be on March 22 at the Auguste Theatre in Paris, a performance whose ironic title is: "I'm a star and you don't know it", which will be followed by concerts in Angers, Bordeaux and elsewhere... See the above images for details.

This blog invites it readers located in Paris to go listen and to especially discover (if you have not already done so), this atypical fellow, who by his talent and especially his independence, contributes in his own way, in our collective enrichment. For this blog, the work of Jann Halexander has the ability to create within the listener or viewer, or reader, a questioning which would induce an inner resonance for the deployment of their intrinsic qualities.
