"How Hollande got Sassou & Co. in Dakar"; it is under this title that La Lettre du Continent describes and analyzes the speech of François Hollande in Dakar and how his message was received by the never ending and incorrigible dictators of the Franco-African environment.

That periodical said that Hollande who arrived in Senegal on 28 November 2014 from Guinea, was during the summit of the Francophonie, transfigured by the fall of Blaise Compaoré in Burkina Faso. After his speech before thirty heads of state, Francois Hollande posed for the traditional family photo in the company of those he had just angered. Apparently, Denis Sassou Nguesso was in a particularly bad mood. He wanted the Secretariat General of the organization to be given to Central Africa; his candidate was Henri Lopes. However, this was tricky in the post Compaoré context, so Macky Sall who played the go between had to explain to him that the state of democracy in Congo blocked the approval of the candidate of that country by the entire organization. Someone clean and democratic had to be found, a rare commodity in françafrique; the consensus became focused on the Canadian of Haitian origin Michaëlle Jean. At a cocktail party with the French community in Dakar, Hollande would have dropped this quip regarding his predecessor Nicolas Sarkozy: "It is not only in Africa that some ghosts are desperate to stay in power.

Speaking about the International Congress of the Gabonese opposition for change organized by the Convention of the Gabonese Diaspora, held in Paris from 5 to 7 December 2014, La Lettre du Continent says that its objective is for the opposition to elaborate a common project for the 2016 presidential election, and to agree on the selection of a single candidate. La Lettre du Continent attributes the organization of this meeting to André Mba Obame and describes the opposition strategy as standing on 3 pillars: the Front, the Sovereignists and the Jean de Dieu Moukagni-Iwangou wing of the UPG. The article also suggests that Jules Bourdès Ogouliguendé and Seraphin Ndaot are the key figures of the regime with the mission to weaken Jean Ping with the Myene electorate, and that others would be used by the regime to muddy the waters in the southern regions of Ngounié-Nyanga. But more directly, the LDC already tells us that in this part of the country, one Alfred Nziengui Madoungou, a political adviser to Ali Bongo and under the guidance of the Budget Director Yves Fernand Manfoumbi, so by Accrombessi, is the field worker of the regime in Ngounié and Nyanga. It would, for example, be in charge of monitoring the activities of Pierre Claver Maganga-Moussavou and Didjob Divungi Di Ndinge in that region.

Regarding buffoonery, La Lettre du Continent says that despite appearances, tension is brewing more than ever between Ali and Pascaline Bongo. Ali Bongo had ordered an armed raid in the study of the notary Lydia Relongoué-Bevignat. Indeed, a judicial officer at the head of 20 armed men broke into that study on 24 November 2014. Lydia Relongoué-Bevignat has been retained by Pascaline Bongo to manage a part of the record concerning the financial legacy of Omar Bongo. The article suggests that the BGFI Bank could suffer the same fate. The LDC also said that Pascaline Bongo did not attend the ceremony of transfer of Omar Bongo’s remains from Ngouoni to Franceville.
